AUBURN — After three consecutive losses, Auburn football suffered a significant off-field loss Monday, Oct. 13, as coach Hugh Freeze announced team captain Damari Alston was no longer with the program.

Freeze clarified some of his statements about Alston's exit Monday, saying, "I think he's a fine individual, and I've really enjoyed being around him and coaching him. ... Certainly, I don't want anyone to think he's done something awfully wrong or horribly wrong. It's just a differencing on what moving forward looks like and your commitment level to a team."

It's certainly a significant blow to the locker room, as a player-elected leader departed the program at the season's midway point. But, it could prove insignificant on the field.
