Despite the tension between Canada and the United States, there are bill proposals that are aimed at rekindling the bond between the two countries.

One bill is asking Canadian snowbirds to stay for longer stretches without having to obtain a visa. Reps Elise Stefanik of New York, Laurel Lee of Florida, and Greg Stanton of Arizona are aiming to extend Canadian stays without a visa to 240 days.

The proposal claims that the U.S. will see an economic boost while strengthening ties between the two countries. The bill is intended for those over 50 or those with a home in the U.S.

It remains to be seen if this particular bill will ever get the green light, as it has been revised for years now. In the meantime, other bills are being issued, and a recent one has caused a stir among Canadians.
