DENVER, Colorado — Singer Neil Diamond treated fans with a rare performance during the weekend as he was honored with the Inspirational Lifetime Achievement Award at the 39th Annual Carousel Ball.
Diamond, who has been battling Parkinson’s disease, surprised fans with a rendition of his hit “Sweet Caroline,” according to Parade . Broadway star Nick Fradiani, who plays the singer in the play “The Neil Diamond Musical: A Beautiful Noise ," performed with Diamond, Men’s Journal reports .
“I’ve been through it all now, and I’m still coming back for more,” Diamond, 84, said while accepting the award. “I remember being a 15-year-old in Brooklyn and dreaming of a day like this.”
