The FBI is investigating bomb threats sent via email to school districts in Brevard and Sumter counties in Central Florida.
Officials believe they are part of a statewide hoax aimed at scamming the schools.
“These threats are not considered credible and appear to be part of a hoax intended to solicit money,” Brevard County officials said in a statement.
The district does not plan to change anything at the schools today and assured, “At this time, there is no indication of any danger to our campuses, and students are safe to attend school tomorrow as scheduled.”
Sumter County School District also received the email and acknowledged the threat circulating through a "swatting" email thread.
Officials there do not believe the threat is credible and consider it part of the same hoax.
