Police in Mzuzu have launched a man hunt for an unknown female suspect who has stolen a one year old girl in Mzuzu Bus Depot.

The incident occurred on October 14, 2025 at around 8:00 hours.

It has been reported that on the said date and time, 19 -year -old Zione Phiri was with her child, Emily Msiska in Mzuzu Bus Depot waiting to pick lift to Mzimba.

Later on Phiri went to buy food leaving the child with an unknown woman who was with her in the depot.

After some minutes, she came back only to find out that the woman had left with the child.

The issue was reported to Mzuzu Police Station and police detectives visited the scene but the suspect was no where to be found.

Police are urging members of the public to come forward with any information that may lead to the trace of the suspect
