Violent protests erupted outside Baksa District Jail in Assam's Baksa on Wednesday when the five people arrested in connection with the death of singer Zubeen Garg in Singapore last month were being sent to judicial custody after their police remand ended.
North East India Festival (NEIF) chief organiser Shyamkanu Mahanta, Zubeen's manager Siddhartha Sharma, his cousin and police officer Sandipan Garg and his personal security officers (PSOs) Nandeswar Bora and Prabin Baishya were remanded to judicial custody by the Kamrup Chief Judicial Magistrate.
However, demanding justice for Zubeen Garg, a large number of people gathered near Baksa district jail, and some among them started pelted stones targeting the vehicles carrying the accused persons to the jail. Also Read | Zubeen Gargs c
