Competing against larger schools, Niagara placed eighth among 12 teams participating in a volleyball tournament hosted by Wrightstown, Wis.
The Badgers opened the weekend with a 25-17, 25-19 win over Omro. Niagara then lost matches to Seymour, 11-25, 18-25; Sheboygan South, 23-25, 20-25; Two Rivers, 11-25, 27-29; and Houghton, 22-25, 14-25.
“We placed second in our pool,” said Niagara coach Maryellen Allred.
In matches last week, Niagara prevailed 3-2 over both Coleman and Gillett in M&O Conference matches.
Against Coleman, the Badgers won 25-13, 22-25, 25-22, 15-25 and 15-11. The Gillett scores were 25-18, 25-20, 26-28, 26-28 and 15-10.
Bristol Sanicki had 18 kills against Coleman. Grace Payette contributed six service aces and 25 digs. Elesia Sweig registered 21 assists.
