CHICAGO — An investigation is underway on Wednesday after an overnight shooting on the city's South Side left one person dead.
Chicago police say the deadly shooting unfolded just after 11:30 p.m. in the 100 block of West 44th Street in Grand Boulevard.
Authorities were first called to the scene on a report of a person shot in the area and when they arrived, they found a 28-year-old man outside on the ground with a gunshot wound to his head.
The victim was later taken to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Authorities have not yet identified the victim killed and it is unclear what led up to the shooting.
