MISSOULA — Montana is off to one of the hottest starts in the history of the football program this fall.

The Grizzlies are sporting a 6-0 overall record to start a season for only the ninth time since they first fielded a team in 1897.

The 1937 squad also started 6-0 while the 1994 team began 8-0. The Griz put together 10-0 starts in 1969, 1970 and 2002. They made it to 11-0 in 2007 and to 14-0 in 1996 and 2009.

None finished with a perfect record. It's a long way to go for this year's team to be the first to achieve that feat, but they've already shown they're not out of any game as they've pulled off three fourth-quarter comebacks.

They'll try to put together a more complete-game performance as they look to move to 7-0 when they begin the second half of their regular season schedule
