The father of the 23-year-old medical student who was sexually assaulted last week announced his intention to leave West Bengal, stating that what happened to his daughter is “unbearable.”
Speaking to reporters on Wednesday, the survivor’s father demanded justice and expressed his deep disappointment.
“I want the accused to get the strictest possible punishment,” he said. “I brought my daughter to Bengal with great hope, to help her achieve her dreams of becoming a doctor. But what has happened to her should never happen to any other daughter in Bengal—or anywhere else. I am deeply disappointed, and I plan to leave Bengal as soon as possible.”
