A person has died following an incident on a railway track between two major Birmingham stations.

The incident took place at Marston Green Railway Station, between Birmingham New Street and Birmingham International stations, the latter servicing Birmingham Airport and the NEC , shortly before midday on Wednesday (October 15).

Emergency services were alerted to a person, 'believed to be a man', on the tracks.

A spokeswoman for West Midlands Ambulance Service said: “We were called to Marston Green Station, Holly Lane, Birmingham at 11.48am following reports of an incident on the railway line.

“An ambulance and two paramedic officers responded. Sadly a pedestrian was confirmed deceased on scene.”
