Maybe the only worse professional-level job in America than running a public school system right now would be that of running a public university system.

Because at least at the primary and secondary schooling board and superintendent level, you aren’t constantly in the sights of a president who apparently didn’t do very well in school himself — he’s never consented to releasing a single transcript from his miserable military school, or from Fordham, or from Penn — but feels somehow competent to withhold hundreds of millions of dollars in crucial medical and scientific research funds from your campus because he pretends to be concerned about your alleged antisemitism.
