What is the case about?

On the surface, the case is about the voting maps Louisiana created for the U.S. House of Representatives.

After the 2020 Census, the Louisiana passed a legislative map that kept basically the same configuration as before, with one majority-Black district out of six. But a group of Black voters sued, arguing that the Census showed roughly a third of voters are Black, so the Legislature should have drawn a map with two majority-Black districts.
