WVU enrollment and the Association of American Universities were at the forefront of University President Michael T. Benson’s first State of the University Address before a Faculty Senate meeting Monday.

He highlighted his ongoing “Welcome Home Tour,” which has seen him travel to 28 of the 55 West Virginia counties.

“People are so proud of their counties,” Benson said. “They are very proud of their university. And we, in turn, are proud of our land grant mission and our duty bound by an obligation to serve others.”

Benson noted that he hopes to focus on enrollment not only within the state, but also in Pennsylvania and Ohio.
