Skims is back with another head-turner, with a shocking new line of thongs.
Kim Kardashian's shapewear brand – known for nipple bras, sculpting face wraps and hip-enhancing padded shorts – is back with faux hair micro string thongs. The company dropped the "daring" new panty in a 1970s-inspired campaign, in a mock dating show dubbed "Does the carpet match the drapes?" referencing the pubic hair-like appearance of the thongs.
"With this iconic new panty, your carpet can be whatever color you want it to be!" Skims wrote in a press release.
Available in 12 faux hair and thong color variations with straight and curly textures, the thongs are currently sold out on the Skims website. And while it's unclear how many were stocked, the concept has sparked plenty of buzz.
Online reactions to the drop showed people befuddled, with one X user writing: "Who is out here spending $32 on fake pubic hair thongs ?!!! ( Just grow your hair out.) The people down at Skims must be running out of ideas. Cause this is a no ma'am."
KIM KARDASHIAN IS SELLING THONGS WITH A BUSH, SO I OPENED SKIMS TO BE LIKE THIS IS A JOKE RIGHT??? RIGHT??? AND THEY’RE SOLD OUT?" another person wrote. "WHO IS BUYING THIS?"
The faux hair thong follows the release of a controversial line of face wraps. The wraps, featuring "collagen yarns for ultra-soft support," target those who have an elaborate morning shed routine. The aim, essentially, is to keep your face firm and "snatch" your chin. The campaign was met with immediate backlash and confusion from doctors who argued that it would not be effective.
In September, Skims launched its long-awaited collaboration with Nike, NikeSkims, with an initial three core activewear collections and four seasonal collections, featuring pieces designed for everything from strength training and everyday workouts to lounging and running errands. The campaign featured Kardashian alongside athletes Serena Williams, Sha'Carri Richardson, Jordan Chiles and Chloe Kim.
