Young Blood Beer Co. is the featured brewery of the month at Magellan’s on Main Street (370 W. Main St., Waukesha), and that means free samples from 5 to 7 p.m. They’ll be pouring four cocktail-inspired beers, three of which are collabs with local breweries.

Lakefront Brewery (1872 N. Commerce St.) has perfected the art of the fried cheese curd, which makes it the ideal place to spend National Cheese Curd Day (yes, that’s a thing). Lakefront opens at 2 p.m. to let people sample some unique cheese curd flavors (chicken and waffle curds, anyone?) and compete in a cheese curd pulling competition.
