LAREDO, Tex. (KGNS) - It seems like active shooter drills are becoming a part of the norm.

Since August, there have been several active-shooter threats reported across the country, even some close to Webb County. Just recently, gunfire erupted at the lucky Eagle Casino Hotel in Eagle Pass.

Webb County officials can only hope that there will never be a tragedy here in town, exactly why there are investments in new tools to keep people safe.

Three discreet ballistic shields were introduced to Webb County officials during commissioner’s court on Tuesday morning. These discreet ballistic shields are already being implemented within several county buildings in downtown Laredo.
