Mets starter Tylor Megill underwent Tommy John surgery last month, leaving his future with the team somewhat uncertain.
The right-hander last pitched in June when he sprained his right elbow. At that time, doctors said Megill did not sustain any ligament damage, but when discomfort resurfaced during a rehab start, he underwent another MRI.
Megill, who is under team control for the next two years, will miss the 2026 season as he recovers from surgery.
The 6-foot-5 pitcher has worked his way in the Mets’ starting rotation in each of the last few seasons, but sometimes struggles to last deep into a game.
