The 49ers named eight team captains for the 2025 NFL season, including three players on defense.

Two of those defensive captains, Nick Bosa and Fred Warner -- stars who are in their third and sixth seasons in that role, respectively -- likely are lost for the year after Warner's brutal ankle injury suffered in Sunday's 30-19 loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

That leaves cornerback Deommodore Lenoir , a fifth-year pro and first-time captain, to lead the San Francisco defense on the field. But he appears ready to step up in that role, as he detailed to KNBR's "Murph and Markus" on Tuesday.
