Late-night theater in Chicago existed before the Neo-Futurists launched Too Much Light Makes th e Baby Go Blind in 1988. Second City , for example, has long had the tradition of late-night improv sets (known as Third Act) following their regular shows. (Their current offerings on the mainstage and at Second City e.t.c., This Too Shall Slap and Chaos Theory of Everything , have 10 PM performances on Fridays and Saturdays.) Other improv and sketch theater venues, including the Annoyance Theatre and iO , also have regularly scheduled shows for the night-owl shift.
But as the longest-running late-night show in Chicago history, the Neo-Futurists (who changed the name of Too Much Light . . . to The Infinite Wrench after a very public 2016 dispute with founder Greg Al
