There were a lot of reasons to be in the building for the Anaheim Ducks’ home opener Tuesday, but the fan giveaway might have taken the cake.
The Ducks gave out Wild Wing masks to every fan in attendance at Honda Center before the game. Each seat had one waiting for the fans as they made their way into the arena.
The masks were modeled after the Ducks’ mascot, Wild Wing, who has the same look.
To add to the excitement of the night, the team set the Honda Center record for largest attendance for a Ducks game at 17,622 fans.
As if the cool mask wasn’t enough for the fans, the team came away with an electric 4-3 win against the Pittsburgh Penguins behind Chris Kreider ’s two-goal game, including the game-winner late in the third period.
