On Tuesday night, the Montreal Canadiens played their home opener at the Bell Centre against the Seattle Kraken. The Habs skated away with a 5-4 overtime victory .

Prior to puck drop, the club paid tribute to Ken Dryden, who died of cancer in September. Dryden was a six-time Stanley Cup champion for the Canadiens during the 1970s and also won the Vézina Trophy for best netminder five times.

Former teammate Bob Gainey read the script in a tribute video, taken from Dryden’s 1983 book, The Game. That was followed by footage of Dryden, along with a series of highlights. It ended with Dryden’s speech after his No. 29 was retired, during which he thanked the crowd in French.
