WATERBURY, Conn. — A $35.2 million redevelopment project is underway in Waterbury , where new life will be breathed into the city’s historic train station.

Construction has officially begun at the Waterbury Train Station, jumpstarting the major infrastructure endeavor at the Meadow Street facility.

Gov. Ned Lamont and Connecticut Transportation Commissioner Garrett Eucalitto made the announcement Wednesday in a state release.

State officials say the goal is to improve accessibility as well as the experience of riders, while reconnecting the community to the Union Station building.
