They were all funded with federal grant money approved for the agency in recent years.

The City of Augusta is confronting a budget crisis nearly twice as severe as initially projected.
The five clean-energy, battery-powered buses came off the production line in California over the summer and were brought to Augusta.
A ceremony at noon Wednesday officially marked their entry into service.
The buses and their charging stations were bought with a $6.2 million grant that was approved for the city in 2022 .
But these five buses are just the first ones.
