CARMEL -- The Carmel Elementary School is known as the home of the cats, but one day a week the school goes to the dogs. Well, one dog in particular, a Neapolitan Mastiff named Enzo.
Elementary school is such a pivotal time in a kid's life. It's where many first learn to read, write, wait their turn and ask lots of questions.
"I had fourth grade students that were struggling with their reading comprehension," explained Ashley Jackson, a Title 1 Interventionist at Carmel Elementary School. "And we started talking about how important therapy animals could be in the school and they asked, 'Why don't we have a therapy dog?'"
Mrs. Jackson encouraged the kids to write down their thoughts.
