NEW BRAUNFELS, Texas — New Braunfels ISD says all library services are suspended until further notice as the district reviews each book in accordance with new state laws.
That decision comes after Monday’s board of trustees meeting.
District officials say they’re going to review nearly 200,000 books to make sure they're in line with Senate Bill 13 which requires schools to prohibit books deemed harmful, indecent or profane.
If a book has any of this material, it will be removed from the library.
Another change with Senate Bill 13 includes the board of trustees approving any new or donated book in the library moving forward. This used to be a shared decision between all district staff.
