La Caretta Mexican Restaurant and Bar is coming to St. John.

The Mexican restaurant and cantina has locations in Merrillville, Schererville and Winfield, where it’s known for its margaritas, which come in 16-ounce, 27-ounce, 46-ounce, 50-ounce and 60-ounce sizes. It also prepares traditional Mexican cuisine like tacos, tortas, burritos, carne asada and enchiladas.

It’s taking over the former Boyos Authentic Mexican Food spot that’s been a revolving door for restaurants in recent years. The restaurant at 9141 Wicker Ave. also was home to Ernie’s Steakhouse and Aspen Cafe.
