SOUTHERN Ill. (KFVS) - An Illinois JusticeCorps volunteer is helping people in southern Illinois understand court procedures, as well as helping with e-filing.
According to the group, Brock Freeman is the Illinois JusticeCorps fellow for the Illinois First Judicial Circuit, which serves Alexander, Jackson, Johnson, Massac, Pope, Pulaski, Saline, Union and Williamson Counties.
While he doesn’t offer legal advice, Freeman does help with e-filing, using self-help resources online and in print and helps court visitors find their way around the courthouse.
According to Illinois JusticeCorps, more people are appearing in court in the First Judicial Circuit without legal representation.
They say this affects the way cases are handled and the public’s ability to navigate the legal system.
