LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - Thanksgiving is just over a month away, but the prep work is underway now at the Lexington Rescue Mission .
Each year they serve hundreds of meals for the holiday, but not without the help of the community.
Staff at Lexington Rescue Mission say they’re currently serving twice as many people as they were earlier this year for breakfast and lunch Monday through Saturday.
They say because of this they’re expecting hundreds of people to come for Thanksgiving dinner.
A tradition since 2001
In 2001, serving a big Thanksgiving meal was the first thing the Lexington Rescue Mission did when the founders got their certificate of occupancy for their building.
