OTTAWA COUNTY, MI – Georgetown Township residents will receive credits to their next water bill, after they were prematurely charged a 55% increase to their water rates over the summer.

The township board approved refunds Monday, Oct. 13, for approximately 15,000 utility customers in Georgetown and parts of Blendon Township. Residents will receive credits on their next water bills within the next two to three weeks, Georgetown Township Superintendent Justin Stadt said.

Stadt said the township decided to issue the refunds due to unclear communication about when new higher rates would take effect after they were approved this summer.
