It's been a rough seven days for the E.E. Smith High School community after the tragic loss of three football players.
After the news, its football game at South View was rescheduled to Tuesday, Oct. 14, when the Tigers took the victory 49-28.
Because of that delay, the Golden Bulls also rescheduled their Week 9 game against Seventy-First to Saturday.
However, it's been announced that the funeral for Jai'Hyon Elliott, one of the deceased players, is scheduled for that day. And so, Cumberland County Student Activities Director Chad Barbour announced on Wednesday, Oct. 15, that E.E. Smith has decided to forfeit the game to attend the service as a team.
"This game will not be made up, and E.E. Smith will record this as a forfeit in MaxPreps," Barbour said in a statement.
