Pensioners are being advised that they can claim up to £300 this week.

The Department for Work and Pensions ( DWP ) has stated that those over the State Pension age who need to claim this year's Winter Fuel Payment can do so via phone, as lines opened on Monday (October 13), reports MirrorOnline.

Pensioners can also hand in a postal claim.
