EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) -- A 20-year-old man was arrested after he allegedly shot his mother at least 11 times on early Monday morning, Oct. 13, in Santa Teresa, according to court documents obtained by KTSM.

Kevin Marin, 20, was charged with aggravated battery against a household member with a deadly weapon and attempt to commit a felony of murder with no bond.

As KTSM previously reported, around 3 a.m. on Monday, a local hospital notified law enforcement about a patient with gunshot wounds, connected to a possible incident in Sunland Park.

Sunland Park police officers responded to a home in the 5000 block of Ashwood Drive in Santa Teresa, and they found an active crime scene.

Upon arrival, a protective sweep of the home was conducted, and all occupants were directed to step out.
