NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) - A man is behind bars in Nashville after speeding away from police when officers allegedly spotted him engaging in a “hand-to-hand drug transaction.”

The Metro Nashville Police Department says Brandon Taylor, 39, was engaging in the deal inside a Kia K5 near Dickerson Pike when he was caught. Authorities then attempted to pull him over on Avondale Circle.

But according to MNPD, Taylor attempted to elude police.

Taylor sped away but struck a utility pole, so he got out of the car and ran on foot, police say. He was ultimately taken into custody and the Kia was searched.
