A financial injection from a London developer is giving the city’s indoor cycling track a new lifeline, allowing the local velodrome – one of only two in Ontario – to stay open for another year.

“Some funding has come together, which has given us the opportunity to open the building and provide some fun for the kids,” said Rob Good, one of the founders of the facility that opened 20 years ago.

“We’re trying everything to keep our heads above water. And, again, it’s all for the kids,” he added.

News of the reopening comes only weeks after Forest City Velodrome (FCV), the non-profit that runs the facility at the former London Gardens/Ice House near Wellington Road and Highway 401, announced its closure due to financial struggles.
