Lucas Metropolitan Housing’s board of commissioners held its regular meeting Wednesday, discussing the ongoing federal government shutdown and celebrating the resident relations department.
President and CEO Senghor Manns said the agency will continue to be unaffected in its funding until November, but if the shutdown drags toward the end of the year, it could cause problems. He told the board that he plans to create a contingency plan.
“I’m not confident that in November we’re going to be OK in terms of the shutdown, but I am counting that we’ll have a plan in place that we can bring to the board for consideration,” Mr. Manns said.
He also told the board that Lucas Metropolitan Housing received more than 4,100 applications for its low-income public housing program during the one week
