A 74-year-old volunteer was arrested Wednesday on multiple child sexual abuse charges involving a Mobile County elementary school special education student, authorities said.

James Edward Williams, of Prichard, a participant in the AmeriCorps Senior Foster Grandparent Program, was taken into custody around 12:10 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 15, on six counts of sexual abuse of a child under 12, according to the Mobile County Sheriff’s Office.
