MUSKEGON, MI — The city of Muskegon has thrown Adelaide Pointe developer Ryan Leestma a life preserver by giving him six more months to complete improvements to the Hartshorn Peninsula.

The city commission on Tuesday, Oct. 14, gave Leestma a new deadline of May 1, 2026, to complete the promised improvements to the peninsula east of Adelaide Pointe.

Approval came with the condition that Adelaide Pointe and the city must have an updated plan to complete the project by Dec. 1.

The commission originally set a deadline of Nov. 1 for Leestma to have park improvements on the peninsula completed. While the bike path connecting the Lakeshore Trail to downtown Muskegon was completed this summer, improvements to the peninsula remain uncompleted.
