Community members are organizing a memorial basketball tournament for a Surrey teen who died last year.

The Joseph Maku 3-on-3 basketball tournament will take place on Nov. 15 at North Delta Secondary School, where Maku graduated. A ceremony and ceremonial game will take place on Nov. 14.

Registration is $10 per player , with a minimum of four players per team.

The tournament will have six divisions: junior boys and girls, senior boys and girls, alumni/community men, and alumni/community women. The junior division is for students in grades 8 to 10, and the senior is for grades 11 and 12.

All the funds will go toward the Joseph Maku Memorial Bursary.
