The Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA) and retail platform Oushq joined forces to celebrate Diwali with an intimate cocktail and dinner event in New York City on Tuesday. The gathering took place at Obvio in Manhattan and was cohosted by Steven Kolb, Jessel Taank and Akbar Hamid.

“It’s the first time CFDA has ever recognized Diwali in a formal capacity, and we have a groundbreaking partnership with them timed to the relaunch of Oushq,” Hamid told WWD at the event.

Hamid, who has joined Taank as a business partner at Oushq, announced an exclusive collaboration between the retailer and the CFDA. “We’re pairing an Indian designer with an American designer to create a collection.
