OMAHA, Neb. —
A Blue Mass was held at Skutt Catholic High School on Wednesday.
Archbishop of Omaha Michael McGovern blessed first responders and public safety equipment.
"What it means to pray that prayer deliver us from evil, and they are part of that deliverance in the way that they serve and protect and help us, and that we might discover something about that self-emptying love, that love that gives itself away as we serve our brothers and sisters in their need each and every day," McGovern said.
At the end of Mass, Omaha Police Chief Todd Schmaderer and Omaha Fire Chief Kathy Bossman honored the former officers and firefighters who passed away this year.
