Country singer-songwriter Ruston Kelly is engaged to his partner, Tia Cubelic. The Mockingbird singer popped the question backstage at the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville. Kelly announced the news on Instagram, sharing a carousel of photos with the caption, "Me and my best bud became best buds who are getting married." On the stage of the historic country music venue, Kelly told the crowd that his partner had just become his fiancée backstage. "Her family's here, my family's here. And right under a picture of Johnny Cash, I had to pop the question," he said. The couple met in June 2024 when Cubelic was on a family holiday in South Carolina, and the two learned that they both lived in Nashville, less than 10 minutes away from one another. Kelly was previously married to country singer Kacey Musgraves from 2017 to 2020. They split due to irreconcilable differences, citing their marriage "simply didn't work". After the divorce, Kelly left Nashville for a little while, then returned to Music City in 2024, embarking on tour and celebrating a fresh start. Kelly released his new album, Pale, Through the Window, in September - an intimate 13-track record that he shared was inspired by his new fiancée.
