VERONA, Wis. — Two new bills are headed to Gov. Tony Evers' desk, both addressing funding and staffing issues for Wisconsin's EMS providers.
For those taking EMS classes at a Wisconsin technical college, Senate Bill 182 reimburses the individual for completion of the course and training, and sends money to technical colleges to help them fund classes so they aren't canceled.
“We do have EMS interns, so this is going to actually allow us to reallocate some of the money that we pay for our EMT basics and our EMT paramedics, reallocate that money to either continuing education for our current staff or to some other place in an operational budget,” Patrick Anderson, chief of the FitchRona EMS Department, said.
