A Pitt Meadows businessman was brutally attacked by masked assailants with baseball bats outside his home, and in front of his horrified wife and child.

The lawyer for John Ling, the owner of Pitt Meadows-based Canadian Aviation College, is working to hold the culprits responsible, and has released a security camera video of the attack. It happened on Sept. 26, and is the subject of a police investigation.

Vancouver lawyer Russell Robertson described the attack as "horrific," as Ling has his legs taken out by the first swing of a bat, and then endures eight more blows from two men as he struggles to stand.

"His wife bravely comes rushing in," said Robertson, which may have spared Ling. "She's pretty heroic."
