LOUISIANA, (KLFY) -- Community members gathered at the Clifton Chenier Center to react to the U.S. Supreme Court's hearing on challenges to Louisiana's congressional map.

The hearing focused on whether the newly drawn map, which includes a second majority-black district, is constitutional. The case has significant implications for representation in a state where 33% of the population is black.

"You know, they're bringing arguments, trying to make this as if it is not about race," said Cynthia Young of Black Voters Matter. "And that's the reason we here. It is about race."

Young emphasized the importance of maintaining the second majority-black district, highlighting the potential for improved representation and outcomes in areas such as education and healthcare.
