HALLOWELL, Maine (WABI) - Thursday night in Hallowell, members of the public had the opportunity to speak with the Maine Public Utilities Commission regarding the proposed rate increases by Central Maine Power.
In September, C.M.P. proposed a plan that, if approved, would increase the average residential customer’s bill by 35$.
This is after the five-year plan is fully implemented which would start in October of 2026.
Representatives at C.M.P. say that costs from storms in recent years will be running off of customer’s bills and a growing population is leading for the need of more development.
