MINOT, ND (KXNET) — Some North Dakotans may see their electricity bills go up following a proposed rate increase.

Xcel Energy serves customers throughout the City of Minot and in the surrounding areas.

Customers had the chance to voice their opinions on the proposal at a pair of public input sessions earlier this week. Leaders at the North Dakota Public Service Commission say the increase would only amount to a small portion of what customers already pay.

"What they've asked for would translate into a roughly $22.34 increase to an average residential customer," Director of Public Utilities Victor Schock said.
