WESTWOOD – A second student has died on the UCLA campus in Westwood, according to publicly available records.

The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s office identified 18-year-old Ryan James as the deceased.

He was pronounced deceased in a dorm room in the 200 block of De Neve Dr at 4:23 a.m. on October 14. His cause of death is listed as “deferred”.

James is the second UCLA student to die on campus in the last week.

On October 5, UCLA campus police were alerted to the 500 block of Westwood Plaza to reports of a man found hanging in the structure. He was initially reported missing on October 4.

The man was identified as 21-year-old Nicholas Chew.
