RENO, Nev. (KOLO) - The Nevada Department of Transportation is gearing up for the winter weather, especially following the early season winter storm the Truckee Meadows experienced this past week.

“Just because it’s not snowing or raining doesn’t mean that we don’t have cold weather preparation that we need to make,” says Assistant District Engineer at NDOT Andrew Lawrence.

Even though the valley floor did not see any snow, NDOT crews say that it is time to start preparing their gear, and inspecting the roads, to see what work needs to be done.

“We’ll be keeping an eye out for any damage that occurred. Sometimes we have crashes that may knock down some guideposts or damage our snow poles on the mountain routes, right? So our crews are out repairing some of that damage that we see and mo
