Former city councilor Marshall Selberg launched his mayoral campaign in an Oct. 15 speech, highlighting his experience and interest in collaboration as benefits he'd bring to the role.
Selberg, a realtor who represented the city's Southwest District for eight years, told a crowd assembled at the South Dakota Military Heritage Alliance that another former councilor, Kermit Staggers, had years ago impressed upon him the true importance of local government, something he hoped to carry forward.
Standing in front of a large screen that blared his slogan, "Progress Over Politics," Selberg said the spirit of collaboration was one of the things that had played a role in the growth of Sioux Falls. He added he believed people wanted some things in life to be free of partisanship.
